With the first day of school knocking on our door this week, we’ve been spending a lot of time with the Cub – outside, enjoying family time! This weekend, he wanted to go to the skateboard park. As we were getting set up and ready to camp out for a couple of hours, I started to pull out my smartphone to check Instagram and Facebook. Just as I was doing so, I made eye contact with the Cub across the park as he was mouthing ‘watch me, Mom!’ My heart melted and I tucked away my phone. For the rest of the time, I watched him. I watched him try new things. I watched him venture out of his comfort zone and try some of the ‘tricks’ that the big boys were doing. I did pull out my phone though to take some video and pictures… I couldn’t resist capturing this great day, and I can’t wait to look back at those pictures and remember his sweet face when he would look over and see me truly, 100%, ‘watching’ him and giving him encouragement.
