We work a lot with teenagers… and I understand phones and texting are an integral part of their lives. One of the young men was talking about sending a text to a girl he wanted to ask out for a “date”.
My comment to him was … “Welllll, while you’re on the date, will you be texting or talking to her? You’re going to have to talk to her sooner or later, so you might as well start the verbal conversation by asking her out. I think it shows great self-confidence to ask her in person and will make a great impression.”
What are you thoughts? When asking someone for a date, do you think it’s ok to “text”, or should the request be made verbally?
(I’ll have to remember to post this story 10 years from now and see where we are…)
