“The first memory I have of the program is introducing myself to Mrs. Vega in my very first class as a nervous fifth grader. I’m sure I did not make a very good first impression. Now, as a senior and with eight years of class under my belt, I feel confident and poised to take on the business world. Not only have I mastered the dances as an Assistant and learned enough to feel comfortable at dinner events, but I’ve also made some extraordinary lifelong friends in the process. Each year as a student, my favorite night would always be the night of the ball. I loved having the opportunity to dress up and have a fancy evening of dinner and ballroom dancing with my friends. I think I wanted to be a part of the program for so long because as I got older, I began to see the positive impact was making on my life. I recently attended the Interview Intensive program, and I don’t think enough people take advantage of this opportunity. At the end of the classes, each student goes through several mock interviews with actual business professionals from the Oklahoma City community. The feedback they give is priceless. Because of this part of the program, I was able to feel comfortable in my first real interview, which also happened to earn me a college scholarship! Next year I will be attending Oklahoma City University as a member of the women’s golf team and a Chesapeake Presidential Scholar. No matter where life takes me though, the skills, friendships, mentors, and role models the program offers will always go with me.” – Caroline Goodin
