With the July 4th Holiday knocking on our door, a friend sent me a text the other day asking for tips as they have been invited to spend the weekend with their friends at the lake. Should she take a hostess gift, if so what? Or was there a better idea?
In speaking with friends over the years who do have summer getaway homes at ‘the lake’ … living in Oklahoma, everyone says ‘the lake’ – which covers the bases of all the many possible options 🙂 They’ve given me some great ideas and suggestions:
- offer to help pay for the gas for the boat!
- offer to bring sodas for the kids and adult beverages for the older crowd if they imbibe.
- offer to bring sandwiches or easy lunch items to pack in the cooler for a day on the lake
- Ask! One friend said she’s always happy when people ask and she’s happy to share with her guests how they can help.
I’d love to hear from you if you have more ideas you’d like to add to the above list!
And in case you missed it this Spring – 405 Magazine, and Jill Farr, asked me to help with an article on Gracious Guests, Hospitable Hosts – Modern etiquette for houseguests. Thanks to photographer Charlie Neuenschwander for working his magic on the photo for the story! 🙂
