Our 11 year old son recently learned the meaning of ‘TMI’ (Too Much Information). And no I won’t go into detail about what prompted the explanation… he’s a boy, and he’s 11, I’ll leave it at that :-/
That discussion reminded me of the Social Graces column I was asked to weigh in on with The Chicago Tribune so I thought I’d share it with you in case you missed it last summer.
The question posed for the column was: “When a co-worker shares more than they should at the office – how should you react?” Click here to access the column and my answer.
#College101 and #Adulting101 reminder: Calling all recent high school seniors who are headed off to college, or young adults transitioning from college to the workforce, don’t forget to register for the #College101 or #Adulting101 intensive workshops. The first half of each course will be a classroom setting where we will go over a ton of material, then we will transition to the dining room where we will work through a 3-course meal and cover ‘The Strategy of the Business Meal’ as it relates to different situations; maybe a dinner with their college President, or other adult mentors they may meet, or even as part of the interview process.
Thursday, July 26 will be the date for both events. #College101 will be in the morning and over lunch (for seniors heading off to college). And #Adulting101 will be late afternoon into early dinner (for those transitioning to grad school or the ‘real world’).
Reservations are required and seating is limited for this first go round! Please let me know if you have questions or need clarification.
And please feel free to share with your friends! The more ‘tools’ we have in our proverbial professional tool belt, the more comfortable and confident we feel!

Do you have a ‘manner’ or question you would like to see covered next week in Manner Monday? Feel free to send me your thoughts, I would love to hear from you.
My goal is to help my students (both youth and adults) to feel more comfortable and confident in the social and professional skills; do you know someone who would enjoy this post? If so, please share it and encourage them to sign up to receive Manner Monday? I would appreciate it! And if you’re new to Manner Monday, I’d love for you to take a minute to learn more about why I started it. You can click here to read my very first post that tells all about it.
Thanks for reading!
