Using your manners at school and with friends, and treating others with respect will go a long way. Being polite and using good manners may even help to deter bullying according to Cindy Post Senning. She says, “Boys who are gentlemen don’t bully and are less likely to be bullied.” Yes, there’s a lot more to bullying, but I’m with her and think good manners could help to put a dent in the problem.
After reading this essay, I quickly realized that I need to rewrite my essay, I have this tendency to be arrogant and think that I don’t need to put much effort, this essay really showed me that I need to step up Here is the winning essay from one of our students from last season about using “Manners at School and With Friends”:
- Try to help people have a good day
- Include everybody who wants to be included, even if you don’t know them
- Treat others like you would want to be treated
- Listen while others are talking (teachers, friends, guest speakers, the principal, etc.)
- Turn your homework in on time
- Don’t be a distraction in class
- Try to make new/unpopular kids feel welcome
- Help those that need help
- NEVER bully anyone
- Get help if someone is being bullied
I think that’s a pretty smart kid who is on the right rode to becoming a nice (and polite) young man!
