Hopefully you still have the envelope in-hand and that, with any luck, will answer your question. If the invitation was addressed only to you, then it is not expected of you to bring a date, so you should not. Who knows, you may meet some really interesting people! If the invitation says ‘and guest’, then now is your excuse to ask someone to join you for the fun evening.
