Checking in on friends who’ve lost loved ones

One of my dear friends tragically lost her son 5 years ago.  I was speaking with her on the phone the other day and she was talking about how hard it is to face ‘that day’, year after year.

It made me realize how the rest of us go on with our lives and although we ‘remember’ the person in question, we more than likely forget the ‘day’ in question.

So I added a reminder on my calendar for ‘that day’.  Now, when the time roles around next year, I can either drop a note in the mail or even pick up the phone and call her.  It’s easy for us to move on with our lives, but the loss of a loved one or best friend leaves a lifelong void in those closest to the deceased.

At the end of our phone conversation last week, she asked me to think about her family on July 29th.  Jana, we’re thinking about you all and Nicholas! xoxoxo
